When considering which industrial mixer is best for your application, consideration has to be given to the following areas:
- Liquid viscosity – when you apply a force to a liquid it will display a different characteristic. This viscosity characteristic allows you to estimate the power of the mixer you will need for your application
- Container capacity – tank diameter, batch height and vessel shape
- Process type – a mixer can be utilized for a range of different process including agitation, blending (the mixing of two or more liquids), dissolving of powder in to a liquid and solid suspension of particulates. The type of process will effect the positioning of the mixer, torque requirements, running speed and type of impeller used
- Duty cycle – the time interval devoted to starting, running, stopping, and idling when a device is used intermittently
- Power supply – electric or air driven mixers for areas where electricity is unsafe or impractical
