Overhead Laboratory Mixers |
An overhead mixer works by placing an impeller in to a vessel containing the media to be mixed or blended. The impeller is driven by a motor connected to the impeller via a shaft. Laboratory mixers are used to mix, emulsify, homogenize, disintegrate and dissolve samples. Cole-Parmer’s large selection of overhead laboratory mixers include fixed and variable speed options, with rotational speeds up to 10,000 rpm and a choice of control functions including reversing and timed cycles. Laboratory Stirrers |
Laboratory magnetic stirrers work by placing a stir bar (a small magnet normally coated in a plastic such as PTFE) in to the vessel containing the media to be stirred. The stir bar is then rotated by using a plate containing rotating magnets or stationary electromagnets. Cole-Parmer’s range of laboratory magnetic stirrers can be used with a range of vessels including beakers, flasks and test tubes.

Laboratory Shakers |
Laboratory shakers are used to blend or agitate samples within a vessel. The shaker has an agitation platform connected to a motor and control panel. The platform is designed to take beaker, flasks or tubes and mix the sample via the shaking motion of the platform. Laboratory shakers are categorized by their manner of shaking motion and include orbital, reciprocating, rocking, rolling, rotating and vortex. These laboratory shakers are available with a range of features including temperature control; timer control; single and multi-vessel holders; fixed and variable speed models.
